As a Principal at Luminate, McKenzie focuses on growing and supporting Luminate’s for-profit and non-profit portfolio in the US.
Prior to joining Luminate, McKenzie was a Manager on Omidyar Network’s impact investing team. Here, she supported the philanthropic investment firm’s efforts to accelerate the growth of the impact investing market—drawing on lessons from the firm’s $1B+ in investments to attract new players and sources of capital to the field. In this role, McKenzie also supported organisations, research projects, and thought leadership initiatives to help the impact market function more efficiently. While in business school, she served as CEO of the Fletcher Social Investment Group, an organisation providing advisory services to social enterprises and due diligence support to angel and impact investors. She also worked with Edge Growth, where she designed and facilitated bootcamps for growth-stage South African startups and supported due diligence work for a fund for South African SMEs.
McKenzie spent her early career as a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she managed projects for public sector and non-profit clients to address challenges related to strategy and growth, organisational design, and large programme and project management to improve service delivery.
