A free press is the lifeblood of democracy – journalists must not be silenced

In October 2017, Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia was driving away from her home when a bomb planted under the seat of her car was triggered remotely, killing her instantly. When he arrived at the scene of the assassination minutes later, her son Matthew described the flames he saw as “the fire of hell”.
