Valentina Vera Quiroz
Associate (Representative), Latin America
As an Associate for Latin America, Valentina drives forward grant-making efforts to support organisations in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico in their mission to promote democratic values within the digital sphere, contributing to more inclusive societies. She is also involved in advocacy and research activities across Luminate's Latin America portfolio.
As a lawyer and researcher, Valentina has built a career fighting for and advocating freedom of expression. She has conducted extensive research for the Wikimedia Foundation, the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University, Global Voices, Global Freedom of Expression at Columbia University, and the Foundation for Press Freedom. In the legal field, she has worked at the Constitutional Court of Colombia and Colombia's Transitional Justice Tribunal.
Valentina is passionate about studying how the law should treat the struggles for collective memory and the efforts of social movements to bring the issue of collective remembering into the digital realm.
